Performance Monitoring System and Prediction Tool for Nawalapitiya Football League.

Abstract

Nawalapitiya football league is a well known and recognized sport club in the central province which has been doing enormous service to uplift the state of the football. Organizing soccer tournaments around the area and managing soccer teams is the main aspect of the league. Currently they have no any proper system to handle and keep good track records which can be using to monitor and analyze the performances of the players and the teams. Annually they have to form a player pool for the Nawalapitiya soccer team based on player s past performances. Leagues selection committee faces difficulties when they selecting players based on manual and odd records. At present the league has more members than the past and its size is growing day by day. Managing records of these teams, players and other members have done by manually without using a proper system. Each teams of the league have to analyze their progress to achieve their targets. Members and the people who is interest of the league do not have a good media to get information about the current state of the league. Therefore with this project I endeavor to improve and maintain the standards, quality and efficiency of player selecting process, team and player analyzing process and giving a good system to manage the league. This project has three main out puts namely web based performance monitoring and member management system, simple prediction tool for league s soccer teams to get predictions, mobile application to view match scores and some information. The methodology used for the development of the system is Rapid Application Development (RAD) and it allowed the use of Object Oriented System Development employing Unified Modeling Language (UML) for system designing. The web based system was implemented using Object Oriental PHP (OOPHP) together with MYSQL as the database server and Apache as the web server. Standalone application and mobile application were developed by using JAVA language. Further, Software Ideas Modeler, Dreamweaver, Flash and Netbeans IDE were aided for designing and development. This developed system was highly tested in trial basis testing cycles when providing the prototypes to the client by using RAD methodology. It provided a viable solution for the final system and it was highly accepted by the client.
