PROJECT MONITORING AND COST MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR MECH PUMP SYSTEMS (PVT) LTD

Abstract

Mech Pump Systems Private Limited is a leading company for supplying water supply equipment and designing water supply projects in different parts of the country. The company undertakes many projects in different areas of the country, so keeping a good track of every project is a key success point of the company. Project Monitoring, Cost Management and Project Scheduling are among the key functions allowing the company to keep good track of every project. Project Monitoring and Cost Management System is being designed in order to cover some important functions of the process mentioned above. The system includes functionalities to store and maintain details of projects, employees and items in the store. Also there are functionalities to issue invoice and GRN (Goods Receive Note) which are very frequently used functionalities. The scope of the systems also includes a payroll system, printing salary slip, keeping records of outstanding payments, cost scheduling projects, managing project cost and checking progress of different projects. For design of interfaces, implementation and testing purposes NetBeans IDE version 6.5 was used, and the database was built using MySQL. The system was designed according to MVC (Model, View, Controller) architecture, and the language being used is JAVA taking object oriented concepts into use. Unified Modeling Language was also used in the analysis and design stages of the project. This dissertation consists of information about all the work carried out during the entire lifecycle of the system. Each chapter contains important and necessary details about the main development phases of the project, in order to make it easy for the reader to understand the system. I believe the work I have done through achieving the targets and objectives, will help the users of the system to maintain a better working environment at Mech Pump Systems Private Limited.
