Inventory Epos and Shopping Cart for Kashmir Fashion

Abstract

The computerized system of Inventory, EPOS and Shopping Cart for a famous retail business of textiles called Kashmir Fashion has been developed as to have a tight control over the management of inventory, customer, sales and reporting. The business was operating only with a Point of Sales (POS) system which was independent of inventory cum suppliers database. The customers and sales information captured with this system was not efficiently processed to get better knowledge about the trends of sales due to the absence of reporting modules on it. Since the inventory database was not connected with the front end and the occurrences of sales information was not processed well, the business fails to enjoy the competitive advantages of the textile industry. Thus to eliminate these crucial bottle necks and to beat its competitors, the business expects to implement an E-POS system connected with Inventory and Shopping Cart. Hence the system of Inventory, EPOS and Shopping Cart tends to have major components of POS system, Inventory management system, Barcode Printing Software and Shopping cart. In addition to the basic requirements of a POS system, Multiple POS terminals will be implemented with single inventory facilitated with touch screen whereas barcode printing software will enhance faster search of products, multiple barcode printing after search pick and price tags, barcode displays in the print. System fulfils all cores and planned requirements. Management is satisfied with the web solution and waits to make use of this. Fully functioning, error free system will be launched within next couple of months. The POS and Inventory software s are developed using Microsoft visual Studio 2010, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft Expression Blend whereas shopping cart and barcode printing software will be developed with PHP 5.0, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and WAMP Server. Microsoft technologies are being used drastically. Newer technology of WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) provides richer applications on this project.
