S IT academy is the leading IT institute in Kurunegala since 1999 and which is conducting IT related training courses. Within the last year, 200 students completed their courses successfully. Due to increase of their students, it is difficult to handle student registration, attendance, payments and other processes manually. When the amount of students increases, they want to give a better service to the students & want to increase the efficiency of work done by various employees. So the management has decided to make an automated system for the student management process. This student management system has mainly four main sub systems (Student registration, Attendance handling, Payment handling, computer booking). Except for these sub systems few other processes are also included. Some of them are feedback handling, marks handling, and study leave handling .etc. Only the staff members can be able to access the system. Using the system, management wants to get short term and long term reports to analyze the development of the company and it will also be important in their future decisions and for the growth of the company. So the accuracy of the system is highly recommended. They have some critical processes in the system and payment handling is one of the most critical functions of the system. So it should work 100% accurately with considerable performance. Because of the competitors? activity, any other unauthorized person or program outside the company should not be able to access the system. When we are analysing the system we have used interviews, observations, and sampling as fact finding techniques to gather requirements of the employees. When design the system, flow charts and sequence diagrams are used for program design and ER diagram is used for designing the database. PHP is used as a server side scripting language for this web based system along with the MVC software design pattern. MySQL is adopted as the database management software. To enhance the performance and increase the user friendliness Ajax is employed.en_US
