Arogya Web Based Medical Center Management System

Abstract

Arogya is a web based medical center management system which mainly developed for the Binara medical center a newly established medical center with growing number of clients/customers day-by-day. Reason for developing this system as a web based system is to facilitate all the patients, doctors and other with the relevant service anywhere, anytime and on any kind of operating system. Arogya is basically developed to manage the regular management procedures of consultant clinic carried out within the medical center. This system is capable of Patient Registrations, Booking doctors, get information about available clinics, send SMS/Email alerts to patients/doctors and View/Manage medical report status. For each and every person within the system have their own username and password to access the system. Furthermore this system will allow managing general data using an administration screen where an authorized person can login using relevant username and password. Structured methodology is used to develop the system. It is chosen because of the easiness of implementation and the speed. Since this is a web based system, speed of the system is a very considerable fact. Core system is developed based on open source technologies. PHP is the main programming language used to develop the system. MySQL is used as the database management system. Apache is used as the web server. Few open source libraries were used to enhance the systems features and activities such as CAPTCHA system, pagination and search. Sending Email/SMS notifications to the patients and doctors is a unique feature in this system. This will be considered as the research and development (R&D) part of this project. SMS sending feature of the system is implemented using a third party SMS gateway where user needs to subscribe for the service.
