The primary goal of an e-commerce website is to sell goods and services online. We can see a large number of web shops have been placed in the web to sell the goods and services online to the consumers. Serendib Industries is a company owned by a professional artist. The company has a market of local and international customers for paintings and artists materials. They want to increase their sales by introducing there products through a web shop to the online consumers. Also they believe that they can promote their products by applying e-marketing concepts to the web shop. This project is based on developing an e-commerce web application for an online store of paintings (gallery) and artist materials and consumers can place orders through the web application for Serendib Industries. Also some e-marketing aspects such as newsletters and articles also have been taken in to the consideration. The objective of this project is to develop a web store with e-commerce features and a dynamic admin area to the client to control front end with functionalities such as category Management, gallery management, product management, user management and order management and to control e-marketing aspect such as newsletter management and article management. Also the dynamic web front must contain the shopping cart solution, online ordering, category listing, product listing, online painting gallery with the inquiry feature, user related features (login, registration, forgot password, extranet), article listing and display and newsletter subscription. This system is entirely developed using the Zend framework with MVC architecture. Mysql was used as the backend database and wamp server which includes Apache and PHP as the programming language and browser as the front end client. Also I used jquery (javaScript Library that simplifies HTML document traversing, event handling, animating, and Ajax interactions for rapid web development) to control client side activities. The client is expecting to optimize this website in most search engines. The search engine optimization techniques such as Google analytics methods have to be applied in future to gain the competitive advantage to this website among others.
