Abstract

The growth of the market, business and the competitive edge, leads companies to migrate for new browser based software solutions to provide its clients efficient quality service all over the world. Share trading is one growing approach that has been given much attention in the recent past. It has become a market trend. There are over one million people already registered at Central Depository Systems, The Colombo Stock Exchange (SEC) has 250 companies representing 20 business sectors, additional 75 companies will come from listing in the near feature to boost liquidity and increase the proportion of shares by offer portion of its ownership of the company to the public. There is no other web based software solution implemented to full fill the market demand that address SEC new rules and regulations which affected from 1st of January 2011, yet. Most of the companies do not have a proper system to manage their own share issues. The existing systems of most of companies are inherent with many shortcomings and constraints. Inability to manage documents, lack of decision making support, analyze information from any part of the world are the main limitations of the current systems. The project is initiated as a result of analyzing the demand and problems faced by the share issuing companies.This solution provide advance facilities for the investors and the company management by enhancing performance and adding new features like email/SMS notifications, which is not provided by current systems. With the advent of the cutting edge technology, the SIMS provides advanced convenient infrastructure for all parties related to share issue .The proposed system is designed using the Object Oriented concept and design patterns. Unified Modelling Language was used in the analysis stages of the project. Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is used to implement the system in C#.NET language with the help of ASP.net technology and IIS sever in Windows environment. System is developed according to the layered architecture with the support of SQL server 2008 backend. Through achieving functional and non-functional objectives, this system gives a smooth functioning procedure with user friendly environment, which is helpful for the organization to achieve their goals and get rid of bottlenecks that they faced. Furthermore, this system will have a fine market demand in the near future.
