MatrixERP Customized business solution for MIIT

Abstract

Today technology has evolved in such a way that it has become a part of every one lives. From E-commerce web sites to Social networks people are engaged in Business, Entertainment and Research activities (If we name a few) with the use of this expanded network which we call the Internet. With the development of the technology as well as business in a whole Matrix Institute of Information Technology (MIIT) has decided to go in par with the current demands of the market. To support this strategic initiative MIIT identified that it has to have an integrated system which will support the business in whole. The concept of the proposed system was to build a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning solution that will cater the strategic requirement of the company. The proposal was to build an integrated solution to assist a few key business functions. The key functionality identified contained Human Resource Management, Payroll Management, Student Information System, Customer Service helpdesk and Inventory Control. Due to the time constraints posed by BIT and the priorities identified by MIIT, the initial release will contain the Human Resource Management and Project Management functions. A key fact to select this two modules for development was that MIIT already has isolated systems developed for many of the other business functions. A key requirement of the system development was scalability, as we intend to complete the system following the BIT project. The technology selected was focused on rapid development, developer expertise as well as scalability. Since MIIT opt of a web based solution and the developer was well equipped with PHP/MySQL development we decided to go ahead with the Zend Framework which is a loosely coupled PHP framework based on Module View Controller architecture and Front Controller patters.
