JEWELRY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR VASANTHAS JEWELRY

Abstract

As a shop that retails jewelry, Vasanthas is well recognized among clients for its fabulous designs and enormous number of selections. Presently most of their business processes have been done manually and management faces difficulties when handling inventory and generating managerial reports. Hence, it is requested by the management to computerized system to provide an efficient way mainly to control inventory and tracking sales transaction using highly improved technique. The scope of the project can be divided in to three main sub systems such as Inventory Control, Customer Management (CM), On-line ordering. Objective of this system is to manage the inventory and the sales transactions more effectively and efficiently by applying re-order processing, generating stock balancing statistics, managing customer relationships. System provides reports to the management in a timely and orderly manner to demonstrate daily/weekly etc sales statistics and stocks balancing. Object-oriented techniques were used to develop the system. Analysis and design stages of the project were mainly done using Unified Modeling Language (UML). The front end of the project was built using Microsoft Visual Studio to construct and implement the system in VB.NET with the help of Microsoft SQL Server as the back end in the Windows XP environment. This dissertation illustrates all the work carried out during the each phase of the project from Analysis to System Testing. To provide a clear picture to understand the project, appropriate figures, graphs and reports will be exemplify in each chapter necessarily. It was strongly believed that the shop will immensely benefit by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization and also the connection to the internet will be more advantageous to enhance business through web-orientation.
