Android Cam Translator application

Abstract

Travelling is fashionable and entertainment experience among the people in the entire world. However travailing to other countries would be an amazing experience for the people. It would be a real opportunity to engage with different cultures and it will be a new perspective for entire life. However it would be hard to face for travelling opportunities if the local language will not be understood by visitors. Due to most of Sri Lankan people do not understand English or any other foreign language, if western or any other country has been visited by Sri Lankan people then communication issue will be faced by them as well. Therefore language translation mobile application would be useful among travellers. As an example, the English to Sinhala translation application will be very important for Sri Lankan people. Due to Sri Lanka is a developing country yet in the world tourism is a one of the key factor for the development of Sri Lankan economy. However foreigners will understand their language and most probably English as well but they do not understand Sinhala. Since local language has not been understood then communication issues are being faced by foreigners. On the other hand most of rural areas in the Sri Lanka; people are unable to understand English or any other language. Therefore when Sri Lanka villages or rural area will be visited by foreigners then they will have to face communication problem. From the research and implementation of Android Cam Translator application, it will attempt to fulfil the communication gap between locals and foreigners. Therefore from this project, a language translation mobile application will be developed into Android devices. Then foreigners may use that app and it will be converted to Sinhala words up to meaning full English words or vice versa which will exist on the notice board, road names, shops name etc.... However after implementation of Android Cam Translator Android app, it can be promoted by Sri Lankan tourist board among the foreigners when tourist will visit to Sri Lanka. In the other hand foreigners would be encouraged by the new app to visit to Sri Lanka and it will effect to even highly Sri Lankan economy. As well as when foreign countries are being visited by Sri Lankan people then the new app can be used by Sri Lankan travellers to reduce the communication gap.
