Abstract: Samagi Motors is a Company that acts the role of an authorized Sales agent of “David Pieris&#xD;
Motor Company Limited” at Pelawaththa area in Kaluthara District other than its own&#xD;
business of vehicle maintenance. The Management of Samagi Motors has identified a number&#xD;
of problems with their manual system. Inaccuracy of payment calculation, difficulty in&#xD;
handling customer records, unavailability of a backup system, delay in search of data and&#xD;
manager mostly being out of office premises get difficult to handle business activities in the&#xD;
office are some of them.&#xD;
Therefore, considering these reasons, the management of Samagi Motors has decided that&#xD;
they are in need of a Web Based Sales and Vehicle Maintenance System to control and&#xD;
manage the business activities of the company, effectively, and efficiently.&#xD;
The new proposed web based Sales and Vehicle Maintenance System has been developed&#xD;
according to the concept of Object Orientation and Iterative Development. Storing data, report&#xD;
generating, calculating payments, generating alerts, pre estimating, confirming estimates, job&#xD;
cards, invoicing, generating emails, backups and generating SMS are the most critical&#xD;
functionalities of this system.&#xD;
This system has been developed using .NET framework.ASP.NET, C#.NET languages have&#xD;
been used in coding along with MS SQL, which is a relational database management system.&#xD;
The new proposed web based Sales and Vehicle Maintenance System helps Samagi Motors to&#xD;
fulfil the management and administrative activities along with CRM activities efficiently, and&#xD;
enable profit maximization. Finally, user feedback was collected, evaluated and has done a&#xD;
feedback analysis successfully.</description>

      <title>Web Based System for Swimming Championship in Hillwood College Kandy</title>

Abstract: With the vision “To be the center of excellence in holistic education”, Hillwood College&#xD;
Kandy strives to nurture and develop the child not only academically but also to ensure that&#xD;
children involve in different extra-curricular activities for a better future. Swimming is one of&#xD;
the popular games which students are taken place to develop their personality. School is&#xD;
participating for at least 15 events organized by different swimming organization and schools&#xD;
island wide. The School conducted their “1st Central province swimming championship for&#xD;
novice and age group” 25th and 26th March 2017 which is to be continued annually.&#xD;
Swimming coaches, POG and students use a manual system to maintain all the relevant&#xD;
records. IT teachers encountered some problems with current computerized system (MS&#xD;
Excel). Difficulty of produce result sheets, no proper mechanism to store swimmers, coaches,&#xD;
schools, events details, access is not given for other school coaches, difficulty of lane&#xD;
selections, swimmers are registerd more than the number of specified events, data redundancy&#xD;
were main problems.&#xD;
I developed a web based swimming management system to overcome above addressed&#xD;
problems by using Rational Unified process (RUP). The developed system is able to provide&#xD;
enhance method of login system for other schools for registration, registration of swimmers,&#xD;
coaches &amp; events, entry forms for swimming meets, result sheets, management of swimmers,&#xD;
schools, events, schools and selection of championships.&#xD;
This was a great chance for me to apply the theory knowledge which I gained through my&#xD;
MIT, improve my knowledge on Bootstrap, PHP, CSS, Javascript, Ajax and as an end user to&#xD;
understand the swimming meet process better. The developed system has been properly tested&#xD;
using a comprehensive tesing procedure which ensures a high-quality system. The system&#xD;
would assist the staff of Hillwood College Kandy to enhance their services to provide better&#xD;
results.</description>

Abstract: Anula Devi Girls’ College is a well-known and a leading school in Galle District. Lack of a web&#xD;
site and a web based system was a major problem for the administrative staff. Each and every&#xD;
activity is done by using the existing manual system. All the records of students, academic &amp; non –&#xD;
academic staff are handled manually. Therefore it is very useful to have a computerized system for&#xD;
the school to overcome the daily difficulties and it will help the students and the whole school system&#xD;
to compete with the new technologies.&#xD;
The proposed system consists of a web site, web-based system and a mobile app and this allows&#xD;
users to work with a fully functional computerized system. School official web site helps to external&#xD;
users/ public to read details about school like history, mission, vision, OGA projects, special events&#xD;
etc. Web based system is for school administrative staff, students and parents. In the Student&#xD;
Management Process, it consists of maintaining student details, managing student attendance,&#xD;
handling examinations, generating reports etc. Leave Management process contains making&#xD;
immediate leave requests using a mobile app, receiving quick notifications about the approval or&#xD;
rejection, making alternative arrangements etc. Performance rating process includes managing&#xD;
teacher attendance and student attendance and analyzing them, generating class wise and subject&#xD;
wise reports for each student, generating performance and ranking reports etc. Mobile App provides&#xD;
an excellent platform for smooth, paperless and real time communication for the principal, staff and&#xD;
parents and also includes immediate search facility for the principal to find available teachers with&#xD;
their work allocation and location, making immediate leave requests, searching leave history details&#xD;
and leave policy details before requesting, receiving quick notifications about leave approvals and&#xD;
rejections and receiving making complains etc.&#xD;
I used PHP Version 5.6.3, MySQL Version 5.6.21, Apache Version 2.4.10, Xampp Version 3.2.1,&#xD;
HTML, CSS, JS, PhpMyAdmin, Angular JS and Apache Cordova as technologies and tools like&#xD;
Ajax, Json, jQuery, Bootstrap, Photoshop, Sublime and EDraw Max etc. Twitter Bootstrap is&#xD;
enabling responsive web design layout for multi-screen size devices. For the project development,&#xD;
Waterfall Model has been use as project methodology.&#xD;
So, I decided to build a web site and introduce a computerized system with a mobile app to facilitate&#xD;
student management, leave management and performance rating method for the school.</description>

      <title>Holiday Bungalow Management System for Sri Lanka Navy</title>

Abstract: At present, Sri Lanka Navy consist of huge cadre, around 60,000 including Regular and&#xD;
Volunteer Naval forces of both Officers and Sailors. Due to Naval personal’s job scope and the&#xD;
stressful working pattern, it has been facilitated 250 naval holiday bungalows all over the country&#xD;
to uplift the life style of them and their family members. This holiday bungalow reservation was a&#xD;
complete manual process which introduced lot of errors and functioned in less effective manner.&#xD;
Manual reservation approval process faced difficulties since it needs to consider complex&#xD;
decision making based on requestor’s rank, seniority and few other factors. Also, presenting&#xD;
bungalow information and maintaining a smooth booking operation was a major challenge for the&#xD;
organization.&#xD;
Implemented web based online system for SLN is an online system which publishes&#xD;
all information of holiday bungalows, nearby attractions and it has automated the manual&#xD;
reservation operations much efficiently and smoothly. This is capable of handling, monitoring&#xD;
and recording reservation requests and approvals between Navy Officers/Sailors and&#xD;
Management. Further it integrates with existing Human resource information system (HRIS) in&#xD;
SL Navy for authentication and decision making. Also, the new system evaluates and presents the&#xD;
complex decision making criteria during reservation approval in a simplified manner to the&#xD;
approver.&#xD;
Unified Modeling Language (UML) has been used to design the system and developed using&#xD;
PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML, Java Script other open source tool and technologies. Rational&#xD;
Unified Process (RUP) methodology used to develop this system. The System will be hosting&#xD;
SLN Server room which is located Naval Headquarters and connected to all the areas through&#xD;
virtual private Network. Testing process of the complete system was carried out by SLN staff.&#xD;
New system has overcome the major disadvantages faced in manual system by reducing the time&#xD;
taken during reservation. But future enhancements are required make this system accessible for&#xD;
public over internet since the retired Navy personals and civilians also needs the&#xD;
reservations. Also crash recovery procedures need to be implemented to minimize the downtime.&#xD;
Finally converting this to a mobile application will be very useful for end users.</description>
