Abstract: Berlux Paints is a leading paint manufacturing company which holds a large market share in paint manufacturing in Sri-Lanka. They produce superior quality decorative paints as emulsion, high gloss enamel, varnishes and other protective coatings.&#xD;
Their staff used, spreadsheet applications and paper documentation to record their manufacturing schedules, inventory details and other related data. Due to manual documentation of data recording and data analysis, there was less integrity. Work load of staff was high and incorrect inventory levels took place. The process was ineffective and led to production delays and increase in overhead costs. As this is a large commercial organization, maintaining records using a manual system was not suitable, due to inaccuracy and inconsistency of records, delay in updating records and non-availability of up to date information for management to make decisions.&#xD;
As a solution it is suitable to use a web based production and Inventory Management System to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The developed system covers purchasing, supplier profile maintenance, inventory management, production planning, scheduling, maintenance of testing statistics, dispatch and generation of various meaningful reports for the purpose of managerial decision making.&#xD;
The System is web based, which is developed using object oriented techniques, employing various UML diagrams for modelling the system and adhering to the MVC architecture. Meanwhile, the system has been developed according to RUP framework. XAMPP web server solution stack is used for the development of this system, utilizing Apache as the web server. PHP is used as the server side scripting language to build the system and MySQL is used for handling the database.&#xD;
The developed system was thoroughly tested using a complete testing procedure and evaluated with user surveys, to determine whether the systems user requirements are accomplished. The system confirms to its specification whilst providing the intended functionality and anticipated outcomes of enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.</description>

Abstract: Loyola College is a fast developing school in N egombo which has around 2,150 students on role and 105 members on t he staff. It has a library which can provide the service for all of these students. The functionalities of this library such as books lending and borrowing activities are handled manually with paper work. Using a Library Management System, their functiona lities can be handled in more efficient way. Allowing the members to check the library books status, updates and check the transaction information via online web portal can be an added advantage. Processes such as reminder generations, fine calculations ca n be more accurate than manual system. System service layer is developed using Java 7 and Eclipse Kepler is used as the IDE. AngularJs JavaScript framework is used to develop the system front - end and the IDE used for front - end development is Webstorm 9. M ySQL is used for database and the database design is done using MySQL Workbench. Apache server is used as the application server. At the end of this development process, the library management system which was tested by the users of the library was handed over to the client to continue their day to day processes .</description>

Abstract: Focus Batteries Lanka (Pvt) Ltd is a small sized company which was started in 2005 with few employees in Colombo. Today Focus Batteries Lanka has more than 20 staff with a fully completed office and a store. They are only dealing with foreign suppliers and also they sell various kinds of vehicle batteries such as motorcycle batteries, automotive batteries and three-wheel batteries.&#xD;
Currently they are using a manual system and office software package for all tasks in their business like preparing purchase orders, sales orders, goods receive notes, invoicing etc. They update every critical task manually, so it’s difficult to maintain inventory records as a result, they are facing problems of a manual system like data redundancy, data inaccuracy, late decisions making, heavy paper works etc.&#xD;
The proposed system is built to overcome some of the problems and inefficiencies of the current manual system. This solution will mainly manage inventory, purchase and sales. And also it manages item details, employee details, customer details, supplier details and many more. Also the collected data will be used to generate a variety of reports such as daily reports, purchase details reports and sales details reports.&#xD;
RUP (Rational Unified Process) was the process model used to develop this standalone system. The system adapts Model View Controller (MVC) architecture and object oriented approach. In addition, unified modeling language (UML) was used for analysis and design. Java, JavaFX, MYSQL, ORM (Object Relational Mapping) and jasper reports are technologies, mainly used to develop this windows system.&#xD;
The proposed system will enable to control the accessibility of information relevant to the users who deal with this system and will ensure to fulfill user and system requirements.</description>

The company faced a lot of difficulties by using a manual system to handle construction project works with the rapid growth of the business such as maintaining a heavy bulk of paper based records, poor customer relationship, difficulty in handling project when client lives in abroad, difficulty in handling number of projects simultaneously etc.&#xD;
The proposed system will support to overcome those problems and to increase the efficiency of the business process and profits. This system will facilitate clients to view project progress by schedule and frequently uploaded images without doing site visits, to do brand selections online, to view budget details online. Further this system will provide the facility to generate useful reports, user management, efficient way to handle clients and project’s details and attractive user interfaces for easy use etc.&#xD;
The system is developed according to the Rational Unified Process (RUP) which supports object oriented concepts and developed using Codeigniter 2.1.0 framework, Bootstrap V.2.3, Netbeans IDE 8.0, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Dreamweaver CS6, and WAMP server. HTML, CSS, JS, AJAX, JQuery and PHP are used as scripting languages of this system. The final outcome of this project is to provide the client with a web based application that will meet clients’ requirements.</description>
