Online Telecommunication Traffic Management System For Sri Lanka Telecom

Title: Online Telecommunication Traffic Management System For Sri Lanka Telecom
Authors: Rajapaksha, R.M.P.B.
Abstract: Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) is one of the largest and fastest growing telecommunication industries in Sri Lanka. The company mainly provides voice, data and content services to their customers. These services are provided on the existing copper wired network as well as on the wireless network spread out in the country. Telecommunication voice traffic is simply (usage) a measurement of volume of telephone calls passed through a telephone exchange in a specified time period. SLT analysis the day to day voice traffic to enhance the capacity of the traffic routes between exchanges. But SLT deals with some crucial issues when it comes to collect traffic logs and report the voice traffic parameters with calculations from exchanges. The traffic management section of SLT requires centralizing the process to view traffic online at anywhere and generating reports for all exchanges at their own place.
This project is aimed at the traffic analyzing of voice calls in the SLT PSTN. The system has been developed as two separate systems, back end and front end. Back end is a console application used to centralize access of the log files from exchanges in the metro region via SLT switching VPN. Then calculate traffic hourly and maintain the database is the other main function of this application. In fact this is an automatic process. Front end is a web based application used to interact with users to view traffic online and generate reports.
This system was developed on the basis of three tier architecture using Object Oriented programming concepts. The system was implemented in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 professional edition under the C#.Net language. ASP.Net 3.5, HTML and CSS technologies were also used for development of the web system. The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 was manipulated as the DBMS. For the system design rational rose 2002 was utilized to draw the UML diagrams. Rapid application development is used as a system development methodology.
As a whole, the project was successfully finished; therefore the traffic management section of SLT and exchange staff will enjoy the benefits from this system. Finally this dissertation discusses the case for this project and it is evaluated in a stepwise fashion. It also covers the implementation issues and the problems encountered in development.

Title: Retail Management System
for
Lanka Gift Palace Textile Shop
Authors: Ranamuka, R.K.S.S.
Abstract: Lanka Gift Palace is a renowned medium scale textile shop located in the Hanwella city. They heavily depended on a manual system for their business operations. This is very time consuming, insecure and inefficient method. Use of computer technology is very minimal with compared to other shops. By moving into software solution which covers there day to day operations gives lot of benefits for their business. With this there business operations can be done efficiently and in minimal time. The retail management system addresses issues of the Lanka Gift Palace by considering the above facts.
System has capability to grant different privileges to the users. Depending on the user privileges relevant users can maintain customer information, staff information, brand information or supplier information efficiently. Authorized persons can handle purchasings, purchase returns, sales information and customer payments. It generates customized reports. System has lot of validation features such as to check validity of certain information.
The works of the system is carried out according to the schedule. The system has been developed using the object oriented concepts. Unified Modeling Language has been used to analyze and design the system and J2SE has been used to implement the system. The NetBeans 7.0 is the IDE use to develop the system. For report designing and generating purposes iReport and JasperReports were used. The database is deploying on MySQL Server.
The implemented system facilitates the day to day operations of the LGP successfully. Hence this system will benefits all the parities connected to LGP.

Inventory Control System for State Timber Corporation

Title: Inventory Control System for State Timber Corporation
Authors: Eleperuma, M.
Abstract: As Business process becoming more and more complex and all the hype gathered around Data warehouses, it is essential that the business should incorporate Carefully Evaluated Computer Based Data Processing instead of Manual processes. The term Carefully Evaluated is stressed up on because one needs to identify what data needs to be stored?, how it should be processed? and what information from the processed data can be retrieved?.
The current process of manual log books and paper based documentation has lead to many inaccuracies and malpractices within STC; thus resulting in bad reputation to the organization from the public as well as accusation of corruption. There are many loop holes in the current manual stock managing process which are discussed in detail later in this document. The aim of this project is to eliminate these loopholes and build a better and more transparent inventory management methodology for STC which will bring back its lost glory and make the institution more profitable as well.
The product of this project is an Inventory Control System for the State Timber Corporation (STC) to better manage and efficiently track transfer of timber stocks across all timber depots of the STC around the island. By implementing a computerized centrally managed web based inventory control system, STC intends to keep an up to date, record of all timber stocks across the island and better tackle the issue of mishandling of timber and put an end to the corruption and malpractices. Other features of the system include summary and detailed information of depots, management reports on records entered, user activity information, sales information etc.
The solution is developed as a web based solution using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript and Apache. Adobe Photoshop will be used in designing graphics for the interfaces. Adobe Dreamweaver will be used as the Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
Work on the system has been completed and enhancements are in progress with the customer in order to add features and optimize the solution further.

Administrative Management System (AMS) monitors and customizes all the calls and
users on the Helpdesk. Announcements and Management Reports are additional features
of the AMS.
Three-tier architecture was used to design the Helpdesk system and object oriented
techniques also used. Unified Modeling Language (UML 2.0) was used as a modeling
language in the design phase. Java1.6/JSP2.0/Servelets 2.5 was used to implement the
system and MySQL was used as the backend database.
The management of the Tritel Services Pvt limited has decided to accept the Helpdesk
system to use after the completion of testing since it is satisfies Tritel requirements.
