Title: Seasonal Storage Level System for Major Reservoirs in Polonnaruwa District
Authors: Gunasekara, I.P.A.
Abstract: Sri Lanka is an agricultural country with paddy being the major crop. Based on the climatic conditions and rainfall experienced by the country during the year, paddy cultivation is done in two well identified seasons, namely MAHA and YALA season. The cultivation for these seasons is done using the water from reservoirs as well as that received from rainfall. Reservoir capacity, initial storage, rainfall, crop variety, start date of cultivation and management practices, etc. are important parameters for a successful cultivation under the reservoirs. One of the threats for the paddy cultivation is the opportunity cost of the water by other financially influential industries.
In arriving at management decisions, it is extremely important to have a prior knowledge on water requirements for a given crop in a given season. This can either be from the experience or through the mathematical modelling. However, the latter is more scientific and influential. The advantage of a software is that it is easily possible for the relevant professionals to test the water requirements under different scenarios and utilize the water resources efficiently among the different sectors.
The proposed software is designed to have three major data categories namely, Reservoir specific data, Crop data and the Climate data. The outputs will be presented with identification of crop, season and reservoir. Further, flexibility is given to check the results with user selected variations for the historical rainfall figures which are used in reservoir operation system. The software is coded using PHP language. Data is stored in a MySQL database.
A flexible system is designed by allowing the user to select options as well as giving him freedom to input the parameters decided by the stakeholders in practice. With the above inputs, user can run the model for any selected crop file and reservoir file and get the output.
This software will be an attractive solution for design engineers as well as the Engineers in the top management who are involved in decision making on Mahaweli water allocation.

Title: Prescription Processing System for A Large Scale Pharmaceutical Business
Authors: Kulasinghe, A. K.
Abstract: Prescription processing in a pharmaceutical business involves a set of stages that are
crucial to a consumer's health. These stages span from reading prescriptions, checking
drug availability based on required quantities, collecting drugs from store, verifying
the collected drugs against the prescription before issuing them to the customer,
billings and issuing. In large scale pharmacies multiple prescriptions are processed
simultaneously which leads to a single employee processing several prescriptions
together or several employees being involved with different stages of a single
prescription. This could result in human errors due to manual handling, leading to
high time consumption, issuance of wrong drugs, dosages and incorrect instructions
that can be fatal in certain situations.
An application that enables modeling the prescription life cycle to isolate priorities at
each life cycle stage, facilitates minimization and elimination of these errors. The
tools and technologies today enable separation and loose coupling of UI, Business
logic and Data layer, to emphasize clear focus on responsibilities of each layer there
by increasing the viability of extending, enriching and changing applications as time
and requirements demand. Microservices that enable building small, light weight,
independent services and Business Process Modeling which enables modeling work
flow logic, together enable creating Business Process Management applications.
The project is an implementation of a 'Prescription processing system for a large scale
pharmaceutical business', built using Microservices and Business process
management technologies to address the issues involved with manual handling in the
pharmaceutical businesses domain. The solution consists of a distributed system,
accessible online, by pharmaceutical staff and consumers which also facilitates
pharmacy-consumer interaction. The solution implementation is based on the
incremental development methodology, where design and implementation details
were gradually expanded as the project evolved, which ultimately lead to a significant
separation of UI, Business services/processes and Data layers, creating opportunity
for easy extension and incorporation of features.

Title: Online Service Management System for NWSDB
Authors: Weerasinghe, W.D.N.
Abstract: This study is aimed to provide online services for billing, payment and other services provides by National Water supply and Drainage Board(NWSDB) in Sri Lanka, which controls all major functions of supplying of purified drinking water and sanitary service in Sri Lanka. Currently the NWSDB serves approximately two million Consumers Island wide. NWSDB has 40 regional offices and 325Water supply schemes manually provide customer services.
The problem identified that current process of customer service is the inefficient, time wasting and use more cost. Procedures and mechanisms used to handle customer services are different from location to location. There is no exact method to use all customer service providing offices of NWSDB. Hence NWSDB needs to develop and maintain a better system to provide high quality services for customers.
To overcome the above issues and to increase the productivity of providing customer services detailed study of the manual service process was performed and a system to automated and on lined. Proposed system will integrate with billing and payment services and other water connection services.
In this dissertation, we describe online service management system to address the above problems. The system facilitates the customer to make an online service request for billing and payments services and water connection maintenance services. i.e. All services provide by NWSDB is bring to customer fingertips saving their valuable time and money. All Customer submission of request system generates SMS/email notification massages. Customer those who are out of country can get benefits of innovative technology based on eGovernment concepts to achieve their requirements from home, avoiding the need for unnecessary visits of busy offices.
This online system was done adhering to the Rapid Application Development approach which was well suited for this project. The online system was developed using .NET frame work 4 environment using C #, MS SQL, IIS web server and HTML 5, JQuery and JavaScript. Object oriented concepts have been used to build the system throughout the entire development process.
Finally, the system performance was tested and evaluated by obtaining feedback from sector experts whom were comprised with domain experts and software development experts. A specific questionnaire was developed for this purpose to identify the feedback in a likert scale, under 05 main parameters comprised with 15 variable parameters. The feedback was quantified by using a measurement scale introducing a weightage to each identified parameter
Evaluation and testing of the software was done to validate and verify the system both from engineering and user points of view. The user feedbacks were positive. The system was found to be easy to use and extremely helpful and saving consumer’s valuable time and money over the previously used manual systems.

Authors: Atapattu, A.M.S.M.
Abstract: This Web base Application, developed based on comprehensive evidences and the expertise of the specialist doctors in the country, is intended to be used by the primary care doctors. The intention of these Web base Application is to help doctors in decision making in low resource settings ensuring the best plan of management for every patent.
The shared care by the primary care doctors in the referral health care facilities and the specialist doctors based in tertiary care facilities will maximize the benefits to both patients and the Health Service. Here, we describe the process and methods used to establish this national Chronic Kidney Disease Surveillance System. The major Chronic Kidney Disease components covered include burden (incidence and prevalence), risk factors, awareness, health consequences, processes and quality of care, and health system capacity issues. Goals include regular reporting of the data collected, plus development of a dynamic project web site and periodic issuance of a Chronic Kidney Disease fact sheet. This system will provide an important foundation for widespread efforts toward primary prevention, earlier detection, and implementation of optimal disease management strategies, with resultant increased awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease, decreased rates of Chronic Kidney Disease progression, lowered mortality, and reduced resource utilization. A Web-based consultation system enables family physicians to consult a nephrologist about a patient with chronic kidney disease. Relevant data are exported from the patient's electronic file to a protected digital environment from which advice can be formulated by the nephrologist. The primary purpose of this study was to assess the potential of telenephrology to reduce in-person referrals. This System used in technologies are PHP, CSS, Bootstrap and Java scripts languages. Data based Designed in MYSQL.
