Authors: Subhashana, J.B.M.
Abstract: New technologies and implementations are flowing in to every company to drive all the activities easier and a time consuming manner. This is highly required in a fast growing market to compete with their opponents with confidence and a successful end product. Technological improvement of a company directly affects their success in the current market and it is an essential requirement which cannot be ignored or fulfilled using other methods.
Distributor data collection can be done manually entering data into Excel sheets and emailing it to the head office to generate reports. This is a time consuming job and require lot of man power for calculations and report generation. For better forecasting the company needs the daily sale and all the other details daily. Therefore a system with a real-time synchronisation required for the data gathering and analysing.
Proposed system provides all the required information to the head office staff to make required decisions daily and provide accurate information to the management for forecasting. With the new implementation the company will be able to react fast to market changes and drive innovations with accurate predictions. Sri Lankan beer market has only two players and the competition is very high in terms of volume and the customer base. Therefore driving automation in to business is essential in a dark market while improving business processes to compete with the opponent with high confidence.

Abstract: The core intention of this critique is to design and develop a stand-alone Veterinary Hospital Management system to provide high quality management level to Vet Care Animal Hospital allowing it to provide a high quality service to clients by means of managing Stock, Patient Data, Appointment, Finance and Billing processes. This dissertation consists of three main dimensions of this system, Problem introduction, System design and implementation, Testing and Evaluation. In the first part consist description of main objectives and recognized process involved in a Veterinary Hospital management system. Furthermore it includes features and limitations of existing system recognized through the experimental survey. This dissertation introduced the precarious features and illustrates the cumulative demand for a Veterinary Hospital Management System. Design part comprises the analysis and design of the proposed system via use case diagram, system diagram and database diagram. Similarly it includes the process of interface designing which plays a key role over the process of implementing the system. This system is developed using three tier architecture and Visual Studio 2008 and Sql Sever are the main technologies used are stated under the next chapter of the second dimension of the system. The final section encompasses test cases of the system to demonstrate the accuracy, efficiency and performance are extremely satisfied. User acceptance questioner is used to express the user acceptance of the system as well as it shows to which extent that system facilitates for the processes in the hospital. While summarizing each test case, it illustrate that this system facilitates and fulfill the client requirement with some limitations. Following are the main limitations recognized throughout the SDLC process. This system can be used only in a local host, this feature must enhance to allow users to access the system remotely to provide bills and to search the patients when the doctors’ visits homes. Similarly the writer endorse that a web application should developed combined with the standalone system to provide hospital’s client to set appointments, Clarify Doubts and Shop online.

Title: Community-based support for Girl Guide Training
Authors: Thanthree, N.H.K.J.
Abstract: The present demanding nature of day to day tasks has left primary and secondary school students with less time for activities that are related to the learning in a non formal setting, outside of school. Girl Guide Training delivers high quality non-formal educational program and will provide girls and young women dynamic, flexible and values-based training to develop life skills, leadership and citizenship. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts organizations all over the world give children and young women unique and exciting opportunities for learning outside of school.
Even though this movement has been spread all over the world, all the girls and women in Sri Lanka have not been given the equal opportunity to swing with this training due to difficulties identified as follows. Currently, most of the schools have the passion of initiating a Girl Guide society, but the voluntary nature of the Girl Guide activities have reduced the number of teacher involvement for girl guiding. Further, more support and guidance from the community is required to be extended towards the enhancement of the Girl Guide performance and knowledge. As the society is now functioning at a fast pace the involvement of the community is becoming lesser. In addition, the only communication method of transmitting related information on the domain is through the school guiding teacher. Relying on this one source of information which has limitations leave most knowledge and information required for guiding training unexploited by the school guiding society.
In connecting the students with the Girl Guide Association, Information system can be used as a tool that would bridge the division and allow communication and sharing of both knowledge and information between Girl Guide Association and students. This subjective research project provides an effective solution for the above mentioned problem through incorporating an e-learning platform along with offline and online functions to accomplish the student requirements in order to maximize the Girl Guide population. Thus implementing an e-learning solution for Girl Guide Association which supports all girls irrespective where a Girl Guide society exists in the school or not. A variety of interactive content including audio, video media is used to deliver lessons. The other most important feature is the re-use of existing content available and among them, the use of virtual piano for learning the practical side of music. Further, software tool such as Windows Media Player, Macromedia Flash, Photoshop & other online tools such as Moovly, Dipity & Poowtoon were used.
